Dekemhare, 23 August 2013 – The participants of Festival 2013 in Dekemhare have called for enhanced societal role as regards preservation of norms of traditional sports among all Eritrean ethnic groups, and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing activities of the event to this end.
Among the participants, Ms. Tsigereda Berhe and Mr. Berihu Ashebir lauded the initiative of popularizing such norms on the basis of the event, and said that stepped-up efforts should be exerted towards preserving them as a legacy to future generations.
Out of the contestants, Dese Tewolde, Hagos Haile and Gebrehiwet Ogbazgi asserted that they would do their level best to popularize the sports activities, and called on nationals to extend a helping hand in promoting them among the youth.
Mr. Asmerom Tsegabirhan from the Festival’s coordinating committee disclosed that the contests are being conducted among all Administrative regions pursuing 8 types of games.
